One cannot help but notice the contrast between urban development within the City itself and the age-old East African culture still practiced in the out-skirting rural communities. The Makumbusho Village Museum is a unique museum where one can learn about the cultures of the many ethnic groups of Tanzania. This open-air museum displays a number of furnished houses from across Tanzania, offering visitors a depiction of life throughout this fascinating country. White Lions in South Africa

White Lions in South Africa

This Traveling Gal has had an opportunity to visit many far away places, but none can quite possibly compare to my time spent in Africa. On this particular day, I visited the Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve, located not far from East London in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. During this particular game drive, I viewed quite a few cats within a pride of white lions. This reserve’s lions include a breeding pride. The owners of the reserve currently keep the breeding pride enclosed in 90 hectare protected area in hopes that the lions sufficiently breed to help cover the impact that game hunters have had on the species. Milan Cathedral

Just a short walk from the Rosa Grand Hotel in Milan, you will discover the Duomo di Milano. This cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan. Located in the main square of the City center, this church offers some of the most spectacular Gothic facades this Traveling Gal has ever seen! Work began on this magnificent architectural marvel back in the 14th Century and finished nearly 500 years later. Devil’s Island Today

Devil’s Island Today

During a recent cruise, I had an opportunity to take a day trip to Devil’s Island. The island is a famous French penal colony in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of French Guiana. The beauty of Devil’s Island is offset by its dark history. During the 19th and 20th Century the prison housed thousands of prisoners, mainly French political exiles.
