In Search of the “Big Five” in Tsavo National Park

Tsavo National Park is located in Coast Province of Kenya between Nairobi City and the port city of Mombasa. The largest in Kenya, the park is split into Tsavo East and Tsavo West. The park’s semi-arid grasslands create the perfect habitat for a diverse wildlife population. This day trip was to Tsavo East in search of the “Big Five”.  Our drive was hindered by intermittent downpours causing roads to turn into seas of flowing red mud. We were lucky enough to get up close to a few elephants as they crossed in front of our vehicle, so all in all our day in Tsavo National Park was not a total loss.

When possible, I always like to share a few photos of local life in any area I visit. I think it adds to the reader’s experience.
