Great Treasures of the U.S. Monument Valley

In looking back to the places I visited during the past year, I realize that the United States has some of the most picturesque scenery that the world has to offer.  Here are some photos from Monument Valley taken in the Navajo Tribal Park.  I had the opportunity to stay in the park overnight, and was able to capture both sunset and sunrise scenes.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Details – Howl at the Moon

DSCN8495

This is my first stab at the Weekly Photo Challenge.  This photo was taken with my Nikon Coolpix P900 Digital Camera with 83x Optical Zoom.  Before making my purchase, the reviews claimed that taking a photo of a full moon would easily show the power of the camera.  During a recent trip to some of the U. S. National Parks, I had an opportunity to stay at a lodging within the Navajo Tribal Nation in Monument Valley, Utah.  I thought it was a good time to try out the power of the lens, utilizing the auto-focus feature and letting the camera do the work.

Day Ten: “Architecture”

Day 9 – “Pop of Color”

Sierra Exif JPEG

This is one of my favorite photos.  I captured the vibrant color of these tulips while visiting Keukenhof Gardens, located in the Netherlands; an easy day trip from Amsterdam.  Each year approximately seven million bulbs are planted.

Day 8 – “Treasure” Zoom In

Germany 026

I captured some busy bees drinking in nature’s nectar during a visit to Eichstatt, Germany.

Day 7 – A Point of View “Big”

This photo was taken during a recent trip to the Grand Canyon.  The scale of the young man standing atop the massive rock formation indicates the enormity of this wonder of nature.  I’m not sure that I agree with his decision to test fate!
